Mountain Woodstock Setlist Live
My Take:
Fans and music enthusiasts often highlight Mountain's exceptional musicianship, particularly praising West's unique Guitar Tone and the Band's ability to Jam. Reviews from forums indicate that their Live Performances, showcased their talent and left a lasting impression on audiences.
I express nostalgia for Mountain's Music, with some sharing Personal Stories about how the Band influenced their appreciation for Rock Music. I often reflect a sense of regret for not being able to see them live during their peak years, emphasizing the Band's status as a significant act of the era.
The Band, known for their heavy Blues Rock Sound, that was influenced by Cream... their Set included the iconic Song "Mississippi Queen," which showcased the powerful Guitar work of Leslie West and the tight musicianship of the Band. "Theme for an Imaginary Western" was written by Pete Brown and Jack Bruce, Lyricist and Bassist of Cream... it turned out to be a successful Song for Mountain.
Despite being relatively unknown at the time, Mountain's performance resonated well with the Crowd... the energy and skill displayed by the Band, particularly Drummer Norman Smart and Bassist Felix Pappalardi, left a lasting impression on me... even though they did not receive the same level of recognition as some of the Headlining acts at Woodstock.
I felt good about their Sounds, but the Volume seemed a little too low... West is a great Guitarist and I heard some Jimi in his Solos. The Crowd moved well and the Noise Factor was a 4 to 6.
Their Take:
Leslie West, the Band's Guitarist and Vocalist, described their Woodstock performance as a thrilling experience, noting that it was just their third Gig. He recalled the excitement of playing in front of a massive crowd and the challenges they faced, such as the Chaotic Environment and the need for a Helicopter to reach the Venue.
Mountain Musical Bio
Mountain was an American semi-Hard Rock Band formed in 1969 on Long Island. The original lineup included Leslie West (Vocals and Lead Guitar), Felix Pappalardi (Bass, Vocals, Keyboards), Steve Knight (keyboards), and N.D. Smart (Drums), who was soon replaced after the Gig by Corky Laing. The Band is best known for their hit song "Mississippi Queen." Mountain's Music, characterized by a blend of Hard Rock, Blues Rock, and Heavy Metal, has been influential in the development of Heavy Metal Sounds.
Mountain disbanded in 1972 but reunited several times over the years. Leslie West continued to perform with various lineups until his death in 2020. The Band's Music, particularly the Song "Long Red," has been heavily sampled in Hip-Hop, appearing in Tracks by Artists such as Jay-Z and Kanye West. Despite changes in Membership and the passing of Key members, Mountain's legacy endures through their Recordings and the continued performances of Corky Laing's Mountain.
